As a cultivator supplying raw materials to producers and, ultimately, to Systembolaget's assortment, you play a key role in the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) process. Agricultural activities often represent a significant share of a product’s total climate impact, which makes your data essential for accurate and transparent reporting.
Your responsibilities in the data collection process include:
- Preparing your data
- Reporting your farm-level data
- Collaborating with producers and other relevant partners
If you also produce or process products beyond farming, you may find the section for producers helpful.
Prepare and report your data
The principle of PCF reporting is simple: each actor reports the data for the activities they manage.
As a grower, your contribution typically includes:
- Agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers, pesticides, and soil amendments
- Energy use, such as fuel and electricity
- Irrigation and water use
- Yields and harvested volumes
- Transport data for shipments you arrange
Before you start reporting data in CarbonCloud, it is helpful to establish clear processes for collecting the necessary information. Some data may be easy to find, while other information may require more effort to gather.
You may also need to carry out certain calculations outside the platform, such as allocation calculations.
To help you prepare, you can find guides, preparation materials, allocation examples, and relevant data points under Resources.
When you are ready to report, contact your buyer to receive an invitation and begin your reporting journey. Learn more about accessing the platform under Getting Started.
Collaborate across the value chain
Building a complete product carbon footprint requires collaboration across the value chain. Your buyers will ask you to contribute farm-level data, and you may also need to involve upstream partners if relevant.
If you have suppliers or other partners upstream in your value chain, such as fertilizer providers or other input suppliers, they may contribute relevant data that improves the quality of the calculation. If there are no additional upstream parties, you simply report the data for the activities you manage.
Sharing your data strengthens your role as a sustainable supplier and can also help you identify opportunities to reduce emissions and improve efficiency.
Key actions for collaborating across the value chain include:
- Map your value chain – Identify relevant input suppliers, service providers, and buyers
- Prioritize – Focus on the inputs and activities with the highest climate impact
- Prepare data – Understand which data points are relevant and identify available data sources
- Engage partners when relevant – Contact upstream partners if additional data is needed
- Monitor and improve – Follow up regularly, track progress, and update data as needed
You can access guides, preparation materials, webinars, and support under Resources.
