Your role and responsibility

As a direct supplier to Systembolaget, you play a key role in starting the PCF data collection process. If you mainly import finished products without further processing, your own data contribution is typically limited. Your most important role is to activate your products and engage your supply chain so that each actor reports their own activity data.

Starting the data collection process includes the following steps:

  • Preparing your internal organization
  • Activating your products in Leverantörsportalen
  • Reporting your own data
  • Engaging your supply chain
  • Preparing next-tier suppliers (for example producers) to report their data

Taking these steps early creates a smoother reporting process for everyone involved. (If you also produce products yourself, you may find additional guidance in the section for producers.)

Report your own data
The rule of thumb is simple: Each party reports the data for the activities they manage. If you mainly import finished products, your contribution will typically include general product information and transport routes, if you purchase and manage freight.

Engage your supply chain
Building a complete product carbon footprint is a collaborative effort. It requires structured engagement, clear communication, and continuous improvement. Key actions to engage your supply chain could be:

  • Map your supply chain – Identify relevant tiers and raw material sources.
  • Prioritise – Set targets and focus on areas with the greatest impact.
  • Set clear expectations – Share Systembolaget’s requirements and your own ambitions.
  • Prepare for reporting – Clarify required data points and timelines.
  • Provide support and training – Encourage participation in onboarding sessions and share available tools.
  • Monitor progress – Follow up regularly and refine your approach over time.

Help your suppliers prepare
Before inviting suppliers to report in the CarbonCloud platform, they may need time to collect and structure their data. You can support them by:

  • Informing them early about required data points
  • Communicating expectations and timelines clearly
  • Guiding them to the PCF web pages
  • Directing them to available support channels
  • Following up regularly to build capacity over time

When your suppliers are prepared to start reporting, the next step is to invite them to the CarbonCloud platform.
