Your responsibilities in the data collection process include:
- Preparing your internal organization
- Preparing and reporting your production-related data
- Collaborating with your buyers and supply chain partners
- Supporting upstream suppliers (for example growers or raw material providers), when relevant
If you also act as an importer or distributor, you may find additional guidance in the section for direct suppliers.
If you also grow your own raw materials, you may find useful information in the section for cultivators.
Preparing your organization
Reporting Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data can support your long-term collaboration with Systembolaget and strengthen your climate work.
To succeed, your organization may need alignment, resources, and the right knowledge. Key steps include:
Secure leadership commitment
PCF reporting can support strategic decisions, risk management, and long-term planning. Leadership support helps ensure that the work is prioritized and properly resourced.
Define roles and responsibilities
Clear responsibilities make it easier to organize data collection and identify resource needs. Relevant functions may include production, sustainability, quality, logistics, and finance.
Build awareness
Help your teams understand why climate data matters, how it connects to your business goals, and how it contributes to Systembolaget’s sustainability ambitions.
Provide training and tools
Use onboarding materials and training provided by Systembolaget and CarbonCloud to build internal knowledge and confidence.
You can access guides, preparation materials, and practical tools under Resources.
And webinars under Support.
Prepare and report your data
The rule of thumb is simple: each actor reports the data for the activities they manage.
As a producer, your contribution typically includes:
- Production data (for example energy use and production, inputs)
- Ingredients or raw materials
- Packaging information
- Transport data for shipments that you arrange
Before reporting data in the CarbonCloud platform, it can be helpful to establish clear internal processes for collecting this information.
Some data may already be available, while other information may require additional work to gather or calculate. In some cases, calculations may need to be done outside the platform before entering the data.
One example is allocation, which means distributing environmental impacts from shared processes—such as production or transport—between multiple products.
When you are ready to begin reporting, contact your Swedish buyer to receive an invitation to the platform.

Engage your supply chain
Building a complete product carbon footprint requires collaboration across the entire value chain.
As a producer, you may need to involve upstream suppliers such as growers, raw material providers, or packaging suppliers so they can contribute their own data.
Key actions to engage your supply chain include:
- Map your supply chain – Identify relevant tiers and raw material sources.
- Prioritize – Set priorities and focus on areas with the greatest impact.
- Set clear expectations – Communicate Systembolaget’s requirements and your own goals.
- Prepare for reporting – Share required data points and explain the reporting process.
- Provide support and training – Encourage suppliers to join onboarding sessions and share available tools.
- Monitor progress – Follow up regularly and refine your approach over time.
Help your suppliers prepare
Before upstream suppliers can report their information in the CarbonCloud platform, they may need time to gather data and identify relevant sources.
You can support them by:
- Informing them early about the required data
- Communicating expectations, timelines, and responsibilities clearly
- Guiding them to the PCF web pages
- Directing them to available support channels
- Following up regularly to build capacity over time
